I totally get this. I've never really submitted to larger pubs because I don't have the patience. I want my work out at least within a week or I just publish it myself -- maybe not the best strategy, but the best way for me to keep creating. I view publishing on medium as building something. I've started three pubs and closed one down because i wanted to put more focus on the ones that accept outside writers. A publication that doesn't value its writers is missing out, imo
