This fascinating photo is of a suit called The Wildman. No one knows the purpose of this 18th Century suit of armor. It may have been used for bear hunting or worse — bear baiting. It could also be a costume for a festival or a piece of folk art.

As of today, it’s displayed in The Menil Collection in Texas, along with other interesting historical artifacts. As far as we know, it’s the only suit of it’s kind.

One thing is for sure. Whoever wore this was not going to be getting a lot of hugs.
