This teenage girl seduced Nazis then shot them. Freddie Oversteegen was 14 when she and her sister were recruited to the Dutch Resistance to lure SS soldiers to their death.
Her hair in pigtails, Freddie rode her bicycle — basket loaded with guns — down the streets of Haarlem in North Holland. She looked two years younger than her age, and was rarely questioned by Nazi officers.
Freddie and her sister actively seduced Nazi soldiers, leading them to the woods to be executed. The men were mostly killed by older resistance members, but sometimes the sisters pulled the trigger themselves.
When asked why and how many she killed, Freddie’s response was,
We had to do it. It was a necessary evil, killing those who betrayed the good people. One should not ask a soldier any of that.
